What is TOPSoccer?
TOPSoccer is a community-based program for kids ages 4 and up (as of March 1, 2010) with physical, intellectual and or cognitive disabilities. TOPSoccer provides these special athletes with the opportunity to participate in the sport of soccer in a safe and fun environment. TOPSoccer welcomes players of all abilities and focuses on grouping players by similar skill, talent and ability rather than by age level. This system promotes personal development and makes the experience more fun for all the athletes.
What is a Buddy?
A TOPSoccer Buddy is a volunteer over the age of 12 who participates with TOPSoccer players in training and matches. They help create opportunities for the players to be successful while also keeping them in a safe learning environment. Buddies are not players and do not score goals. Buddies can be anyone who desires to enable TOPSoccer players to be successful and to have fun.
Why Should I Volunteer?
Kids want to play! These special athletes are just like the rest of us: they want to make friends, have fun and play games like everyone else. On the soccer field they can do all of these things and more, but only with the support of volunteers like you.
Can I get Community Service hours?
TOPSoccer is a great way to give back to your community and get volunteer hours for your school or church. The TOPSoccer coordinator is more than willing to write you a letter regarding your commitment to the TOPSoccer program.
Ok, I’m Ready to Get Involved…. Now What do I do?
